Tapeworm
Mature and live in the small intestine
Very common among cats
Usually caused by ingesting an infected flea during normal grooming
They resemble a string of tape and have indiviudal segments
They can be anywhere from 4-24"
Roundworms
Mature and live in the small intestine
Very common in cats & kittens
Caused my ingesting the eggs themselves during grooming or by eating an infected in host (mouse )
They resemble spaghetti like noodles
They can be up to 6" long


Hookworms
Mature and live in the small intestine
Common & can be life threatening
Can be infected by larvae living in soil that attach directly to skin or feet
Barely visible to the naked eye
Most of the time They are less than 1" long.

Lungworms
Migrate from intestines and mature in the lungs
Most common in kittens or older cats with immune system issues
Usually caused my ingesting an infected intermediate host
They are about 1/4 "

Heartworms
Live in the heart and blood vessels
Not very common and cannot be transfered from cat to cat
Caused by getting bitten by an infected mosquito
Can be 6-8" long

Whipworms
Mature and live in the large Intestine
Not very common
Usually caused my ingesting an infected intermediate host or eggs from soil or grooming
They have a thick front end, and a long thin back end that resembles a whip
They are about 1/4 "
